Week 5, Workout 13 - Seven week Deadlift Cycle

Deadlifts!  So much better than swings... ;)

265, 2 sets of 3 reps.  Again, the second set felt stronger than the first set; I've got to work on my setup out of the box.  Still not wedging quite enough on that first set.

My grip was pretty cooked today after my rock climbing session yesterday (consisted of three V2s (successfully ascended), three V3's (one successfully ascended; I was one move short on the other two problems), and a 5.12- (did not ascend; grip was fried about 4/5 of the way up.)

Climbing on Saturdays will be a better choice, versus Sundays... go figure...

Dougie is getting surgery tomorrow.  It's going to be good to be on the other side of it, and finally on the road to recovery.

Week 4, Workout 12 - Seven Week Deadlift Cycle

Definitely feeling tired... Doug broke his heel on Monday after chasing down the guy that was in my car in the driveway, trying to pull the satellite radio out of it. There have been some long nights, but my hubby is a true champ.

Swings were a little lighter today:

32kg, 6 sets of 20 reps.

Week 4, Workout 11 - Seven Week Deadlift Cycle

Today was 2 sets of 3 reps of 255 pounds.  My second set felt stronger than the first; I failed to focus on wedging myself against/under the bar during my set up on the first set.  The weight went up though without too much difficulty.

Week 4, Workout 10 - Seven Week Deadlift Cycle

Whew.  I went for a motorcycle ride and then did some climbing (on belay and bouldering) yesterday with Dougie, my sibs and cousins.  My forearms were feeling a wee bit stiff this morning, but I still did my swings:

 Two handed, 40kg, 10x10

They felt all right, though my grip felt pretty tired.  Not shocking, I suppose, after working on some V3s and attempting a couple of V4s the day before.

I'll be curious to see how deadlifts feel on Wednesday, having swung instead of snatched.

Week 3, Workout 9 - Seven Week deadlift cycle

Today I pulled 245 lbs, 1x5.  This is the first day where the weight felt sort of heavy, and I don't think it should have.  I honestly think it might've been because I did snatches, versus swings; I'm going to switch back to heavy swings on Monday and see if my Wednesday deadlifting day feels better.

Week 3, Workout 8 - Seven week deadlift cycle

Swing/Snatch day today.  I opted to do some snatches, since I haven't worked them in a wee bit.

16kg, 5x10 R/L

I kept the scheme simple, and took rest between the sets.  Again, focusing on power output, not cardio endurance...

Week 3, Workout 7 - Seven week deadlift cycle

235 pounds today - 1x5.  They felt easy, and the groove felt really good.  I'm still having some pinchy sensation on my right side hip flexors, so I'll continue stretching it out and see if I can reduce that.
